Profile:
Mr Kumar graduated from M.A. Medical College, Delhi, India in 1987 and finished his Orthopaedic training there in 1992. He continued his orthopaedic training in UK and Ireland and was awarded the FRCS (Orthopaedic) Degree in 2002.
Mr Kumar was selected for a knee fellowship in Derby Royal Infirmary and Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham in 2003-4, and gained valuable exposure and experience in all aspects of knee reconstruction and joint replacement including exposure to computer navigation.
Mr Kumar's main areas of interest are lower limb joint replacement (hip and knee replacement) using minimal access and computer navigation techniques. He is interested in all aspects of knee surgery, including sports injuries (ACL reconstruction, meniscal surgery), unicompartmental knee replacement, osteotomies etc. He has continued his interest in these areas in his consultant post in Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil where he was appointed in 2007.
