
Pharmacy
There is a well-equipped pharmacy department situated in the main building of St Joseph’s Hospital. The pharmacy is run by a team of experienced and well-trained pharmacists and a pharmacy technician.A pharmacist will visit each patient regularly to discuss any medication issues. The pharmacy is open six days a week, and at all other times an on-call pharmacist is available.
The role of the pharmacy is to :
- Advise patients and other health professionals on the safe and effective use of medicines.
- Provide medicines management services, especially for patients with enduring illness.
- Promote patient safety by preventing, detecting and reporting adverse reactions.
- Contribute to seamless and safe medicine management throughout the patient’s journey in hospital.
- Provide public heath promotion.
- Provide value for money in the use of medicines to reduce wastage.
