Pharmacy

There is a well-equipped pharmacy department situated in the main building of St Joseph’s Hospital. The pharmacy is run by a team of experienced and well-trained pharmacists and a pharmacy technician.

A pharmacist will visit each patient regularly to discuss any medication issues. The pharmacy is open six days a week, and at all other times an on-call pharmacist is available.

The role of the pharmacy is to :
  • Advise patients and other health professionals on the safe and effective use of medicines.

  • Provide medicines management services, especially for patients with enduring illness.

  • Promote patient safety by preventing, detecting and reporting adverse reactions.

  • Contribute to seamless and safe medicine management throughout the patient’s journey in hospital.

  • Provide public heath promotion.

  • Provide value for money in the use of medicines to reduce wastage.
