Payment Options

Medically Insured Patients

St Joseph's Hospital accepts insurance schemes from medical insurance companies.

If you are an insured patient we ask that you contact your insurers to make sure you are covered for the operation before admission. If you are covered they will give you an authorisation number or send you a claim form. Please fill in part of the form (your consultant will fill in the rest) and bring it into hospital with your pre-admission form.

Your consultant will ensure the medical section of your claim form is completed and is sent, along with your hospital account, directly to your insurance company.

You will receive other accounts such as anaesthetist fees and surgeon fees directly. You will need to write your insurance registration number on these and send them to your health insurance company. If you require any help with this, staff from our accounts department are happy to guide you.

Our accounts department can be contacted on 01633 820320.

Patients Not Medically Insured

Your consultant will inform you of his or her fees. He or she will give you an idea of the total costs involved. The total costs are broken down into various categories and you will receive an itemised statement detailing your charges.

St Joseph's Hospital requires payment of the estimated amount seven days before your admission.

Fixed Price Surgery

We all have to live on a budget and we appreciate that it is important for you to be able to plan your finances carefully. Fixed price surgery is a way of knowing exactly what financial outlay you have to make for your operation. We will guarantee a price to you at the outset. Nursing, accommodation, theatre fees, drugs, dressings and meals are included. If you and your consultant wish, consultant's fees may be included as well.

In return we ask for payment seven days before admission to hospital. Telephone calls and other personal expenses will be charged to your account for payment on discharge.

Fixed price surgery is offered at the discretion of the hospital and may not be available in all cases. Where it is not possible to offer a fixed price the hospital will generally be able to offer a package price based on the expected length of stay with additional nights charged at a fixed rate.
