A hysteroscopy is an examination of the inside of the uterus, or womb, and is carried out using a hysteroscope, which is a narrow, tube-like instrument with a telescope at the end.It is used to investigate the cause of symptoms, but can also be used to deliver treatment or for procedures such as removing polyps or a biopsy.
