Who is the Massage Therapist at St Joseph's Hospital?
Sr. Marianne has been a Sister of St. Joseph of Annecy involved in various healthcare ministries for 20 years. She did her nurse training at the University of Wales College of Medicine obtaining a first class honours degree.
The use of touch in care and healing is very important to Sr. Marianne who has now returned to St. Joseph’s Hospital to offer healthcare in a different form. She studied with Quantum Metta School of Massage in London to achieve credit in her diploma to become a holistic massage therapist. This involved enhancing her knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathologies related to massage treatments as well as closely supervised practical sessions.
Firmly believing that health is “physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” (World Health Organisation -1946) she now brings her commitment to care of the whole person to this new ministry of holistic massage.
What will happen at my appointment?
Sr. Marianne will conduct a thorough consultation at the first appointment.
She will then use her knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology to develop a plan of care which is personal to each client after consideration of their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual states. This also enables her to identify any contraindications (reasons massage would not be advisable).
She works with the client to promote holistic health and well-being so aftercare advice is given to enhance and sustain the benefits received from the massage leading up to the next appointment.
