Hospital opened by the Sisters of St Joseph's Annecy. The first operation took place on the 11th of February. New hospital building constructed and opened in October. The new building included a 12-bed maternity wing. July saw the close of the maternity wing after many wonderful years, creating a new focus for the hospital. St David's wing and a new X-Ray department were opened. Outpatient Department construction completed, adding large, bright consultation rooms and many new facilities for patients. Construction began on an additional wing to increase bed capacity. After the completion of the additional wing, new operating theatres, recovery unit and theatre sterile services unit were constructed. The completion of St Anne's Hospice building, the only in-patient facility of its type in the country, providing care via voluntary contributions. Complete renovation of the current wards and adjoining areas, bringing them up to the high standards of the new areas. Physiotherapy and Endoscopy department opened in the converted facilities of the old theatre. Large car park for staff complete with CCTV constructed. Medical Stores department extended and in-house laundry facility added. Outpatients Department fully refurbished. X-Ray department upgraded and new equipment installed. St Joseph's Hydrotherapy Centre opened in November 2004, a state-of-the-art purpose-built facility situated within the grounds of St Joseph's Hospital. |
