Profile:

Mr Abdelmagied graduated in Sudan in 1995, followed by RCOG - recognised obstetrics and gynaecology training in Sudan.

Mr Abdelmagied moved to higher specialist training in the UK in the year 2000. He commenced in Belfast, followed by Brighton and London in 2003 and gained wide UK experience in general gynaecology and obstetrics leading to UK qualifications. Mr Abdelmagied was appointed at the Royal Gwent Hospital as a Consultant Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and Minimal Access Surgeon in April 2008.

He underwent specialised training in Minimal Access Gynaecological Surgery (MAGS) under eminent minimal access gynaecological surgeons in London leading to MAS accreditation in 2004 by the RCOG in Laparoscopic and Hysteroscopic Surgery.

Mr Abdelmagied is a Member of the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopists (BSGE).

Mr Abdelmagied has attended a number of local and international training courses and meetings in Minimal Access Surgery.  He has developed an interest in teaching and training in MAGS both in the UK and overseas.  Faculty in Laparoscopic skill transfer workshops that led to establishing overseas minimal access surgery units, which are currently functioning independently.

Mr Abdelmagied is a faculty member in the Welsh Institute of Minimal Access Therapy (WIMAT) in Cardiff and overseas training workshops in laparoscopic surgery.
